Dream Rug

Community Art
2018

The original idea of the project is from Finnish traditional rug-tapestry and Japanese Omikuji, random fortune written on strips of paper in Shinto shrines and Buddist temples. The omikuji fortune bearer ties it to the tree or wires to keep it for luck.

In this community art project, participants wrote their own dreams for themselves or instead of others on stripes of rug fabric. Anyone could read the dreams and hope for the sake of others.
The portable artwork was visited in several places such as in the forest, community hall, and restaurant during the year.
