Hidden Wishes

Community Art Project, 2017

The essence of this community art project lies in fostering connections. The work delves into how the creative process establishes connections between individuals and art, the individual and the collective, the internal and the expressive, the personal and the public, and the descriptive and the non-descriptive.

In this workshop, participants crafted their own balls, wherein hidden wishes were enclosed by writing them on pieces of paper. These wishes could be personal or intended for someone else. Additionally, small items such as pebbles, small bells, and more could be included inside the balls. The concept behind this project draws inspiration from the Japanese tradition of Temari, which means “handball.” Parents would often hide wishes within the ball when presenting it to their children, and the contents remained a mystery.
